Art teacher Linda Brown, graphics arts teacher Adam Vinson and campus supervisor Trey Nevels accompanied the students. Students sold caramel apple suckers on campus to fund the trip. Liberty students received private tours from three different museum docents, giving insight to multiple works at the museum.
Mr. Nevels, an artist who has a bachelor’s degree in art from California State University Fresno, said the trip included an interesting exhibit based on ocean trash, and noted the Remington sculptures and Monet paintings the students were able to see. “They were walking past priceless pieces of art,” he said of the students. “A lot of the students had never seen anything like that before.”
Taking the trip to the Santa Barbara museum was a chance for enriching the students’ lives, Ms. Brown said. “Our students need to have opportunities to experience the arts and understand the significant part that human expression plays in the quality of our lives,” she added.
After the tour students were able to see a bit of downtown Santa Barbara and have lunch before returning home.
