Patriots Serve

Approximately 60 students received the gifts and backpacks. The backpacks were donated by the National Honor Society.

“This is one of my favorite community service projects as the students and staff at Liberty High join forces to give to others in our community,” Activities Director Brooke Slayton said. “It is a project that truly embodies the season and our motto of ‘Service over Self’ this time of year.”

A new addition to the project is the LHS Reading Club’s Coin and Cash Drive to raise funds to buy books to include in the backpacks.  Students dropped spare change and bills into cups in their classrooms last week and suggested ideas for their own favorite books for children ages 5-9.  Michelle Lord, Reading Club adviser, said, “The Reading Club is happy to add new books to the gifts students are donating to our ASB’s Little Patriots’ project.  As a club, we have had fun remembering the books we loved as children and sharing them with each other in hopes of finding the perfect book for each adopted little patriot.  The magic of reading is such a joyful gift to give.”
