This is the presentation that counselors gave to current sophomores prior to selecting classes for their Junior year.

welcome to the junior registration video for the class of 2026 today you'll be meeting with your counselor to talk about your current progress towards graduation college and or your plan After High you'll be talking about summer school along with courses for next year when you meet with your counselor you'll be looking at your transcript this is a document that shows all of the courses that you've taken along with the semester grades in the bottom right-hand area of the transcript you can see your progress towards graduation requirements as current sophomores halfway through the year you should have at least eighty-five credits to be to sit on track for graduation in terms of total credits you can check when you get your counselors transcript to see if you're meeting this goal if you're not if you have below 85 you can talk with your counselor about a plan to back on track if you'd ever like to see a copy of your own transcript you can always you an unofficial transcript through student do you select course history on the left and unofficial transcripts at the top as you begin to think about your plans for next year remember there are different Pathways that you may be on if you're planning to apply straight to a four-year College you must make sure that your meeting at AG requirements this includes being in bridgeprep or higher classes in earning grazes keys are better if you're not quite on track for the 4-year if you meet the high school graduation requirements then you are eligible to attend a 2-year College like Bakersfield College or additionally there are other paths that include trade schools near Military and going to work if you do want to be eligible to apply straight to a four-year College during your senior year you need to make sure that you know what a 2G means the screen list all of the subject areas that make up the a through G requirements so for example in the category in your history and social studies test you must take two years minimum of college prep gay or advanced level courses in world history or European history and US history in order to meet this requirement each of the categories have different numbers of years that are required but the common theme is all of your classes must be College prepper higher with grades of skis or better in order to make sure you're prepared to apply to for your college one of the requirements BS requirement is for a visual Performing Arts if you haven't taken one of the classes listed on the screen yet you'll want to see if you can fit it in Junior and Senior year you can talk with your counselor today about these requirements also as you begin to think about your schedule for next year remember we do have advanced level course options there are AP courses which at the end of the a test is given and if you pass it you earn college credit there honors courses which don't give college credit but they do give Advanced or enhanced GPA and there are dual enrollment courses which are taught on Liberty's campus and earn both high school and college credit at the same time and there are concurrent enrollment courses that you can take classes at 2-year colleges 4-year colleges while you're the dual enrollment options for juniors next year are u.s. history honors and we offered that here at Liberty you have to remember that there is a big course load and you are expected to perform a college-level so Choose Wisely as you're selecting these Advanced courses we offer several AP courses and remember these are the courses that have a test at the end of the year that determines whether or not you also earn college credit the honors classes we offer our listed these give the enhanced GPA but no college credit and concurrent course is our classes that you sign up on your own to take we do have people available in room 1201 to help you with that process if you're interested the main thing to remember is that any of these advanced level options require you to take your academics seriously if you're planning or if you already have signed up for an Roc or c tech program the deadline is March 6th after that time of the RC councillors and the Liberty councillors will be meeting to fill the slots for those courses and you will be notified in late April as to whether or not you're in a program please let your counselor know today you have signed up or are planning to sign up for one of these programs also the summer school information is provided here the classes run June 3rd through July 12th you can only take one summer class semester except that one core so we had semester 1 and semester 2 of summer school and during each semester you can take one course talk with your concern about whether or not you need to take summer school we're sophomores that are already planning on attending a four-year College you may have questions about the SAT and ACT test these are placement tests that are given throughout the country some schools require them and some don't for example the CAL States and you see schools no longer require them but out of state and private colleges sometimes do the best advice we can give you is to research the colleges you're planning to attend to find out if an SAT or ACT test is required if you want to begin to explore college options career interest scholarships you can do that through Kern High School supported program called Naviance and set up your own account if you're a sophomore that participated in one or two sports this year can apply for an athletic exemption talk with your counselor when you meet with them to see if this applies to you remember one sport equals one semester at PE and it's only sports that you participate in during your now we're ready to start helping you select the courses that you want to take next year on your registration worksheet you should see the for require and Sagittarius at the top English social studies mathematics and science will want you to select one choice for each category so under English if you are in a general English class and you want continue along that path you would select English 11 or English 11 12 if you're interested in the hero's journey course if you're in a college prep course and want to continue in that level you will select English 11 P and if you are in English gate or you feel like you can handle the rigors you can choose English 11 AP remember you will also receive recommendations from teachers you're making your best choice for now studies the same levels apply so go ahead and select a social studies class mathematics your class for next year will depend on both on your current class and your current grade you can make your best guess as to what you think your course will be for next year and your counselor will help you decide also select one science course if you are in algebra you probably want to choose ursinus College Prep if you're in Geometry or higher and currently passing biology with strong Graves you could choose a chemistry course if you're currently in chemistry you will select a Physics course so you should have for check marks at the top half now as you look at the bottom half which list the elected we want you to rank your top four choices one first two three and four if you're planning on going on with your foreign language mark this as your first choice and then ranked additional choices to follow if you aren't sure about your electives you can always talk with your counselor when you meet with him in just a few minutes once you finish making us elections you can find your counselors name on the screen listed by alphabet I'll be heading up to meet with him now
