On Tuesday, April 25th, the 10th annual AP Statistics and AP Calculus competition took place at Independence High School. This year, in addition to local schools from Bakersfield, we had teams from high schools on the coast: San Luis Obispo HS, Arroyo Grande HS, Santa Maria HS (perhaps a preview of what is to come for our sports teams?) Competition was a bit tougher than prior years and scores were very, very high. Our Patriot teams were still able to represent our school at the highest level.
In the AP Statistics competition, our team made up by Michaela Albuja, Artemis Mansur, Annamarie Rodriguez, and Alyssa Gowling took third place. Annamarie was our highest scoring individual.
In the AP Calculus competition, both of our teams placed in the top five. The team made up by Grant Matejka, Jonathan Wilson, Anu Ayeni, and Justin Guseman took fifth place. I am proud to say that the team made up by Aaron Chao, Nathanial Graham, Arvin Shertukde, and Nathan Cunicelli brought the first place trophy home (narrowly: by just one point.) Aaron Chao was also the overall winner for the individual competition and got a trophy and prize money for his perfect score on the event.
All these students dedicate many hours and represent Liberty showcasing what Patriots are able to do.
